Civic Medal 1st class

The ribbon of the Civic Medal, First Class is a discreet way of wearing the decoration, intended for daily or informal use. It is worn on the collar or lapel of a jacket and serves as a recognizable mark of honour, without the need to wear the full medal.

The ribbon consists of a horizontal rectangular piece of moiré in red with black stripes, the traditional colours of the Belgian Civic Decorations. Attached to the ribbon is a gilded miniature of the Civic Medal, First Class, making the distinction both refined and instantly recognizable.

The ribbon is mounted on a metal base which slides through the lapel buttonhole. At the back, it is firmly and discreetly secured by folding a pliable part of the base around the fabric.
