Grand Officer Order of Leopold Military

The metal reduction of the Grand Officer in the Order of Leopold, military division, is a miniature of the official insignia. This model bears the French-language motto “L’UNION FAIT LA FORCE” and is marked by the crossed gilded swords behind the cross, highlighting its military character.

The decoration consists of the white-enamelled cross surrounded by green-enamelled laurel wreaths, with a central black enamel medallion featuring the gilded Belgian lion in relief. Surrounding it is a dark red enamel ring with the motto in French in gilded letters. At the top sits the gilded royal crown with the crossed swords.

The reduction is suspended from the traditional purple ribbon, adorned with a rosette and gilt-and-silver galloon, as customary for the rank of Grand Officer. It serves as an elegant and representative miniature insignia for occasions where the full-size badge is not worn.
