Commander Order of Leopold Military

The metal reduction of the commander distinction of the Order of Leopold, military division is a finely crafted miniature of the neck decoration. This version bears the Dutch-language motto “EENDRACHT MAAKT MACHT”.

The distinction consists of a white-enamelled cross with gilded borders and green enamelled laurel wreaths between the arms. At the center lies a black enamel medallion with the gilded Belgian lion in relief, surrounded by a dark red enamel ring inscribed with the motto in Dutch.

What clearly marks this reduction as part of the military division are the crossed gilded swords placed above the cross. These emphasize the military nature of the distinction and set it apart from the civil version.

The reduction is suspended from the purple ribbon, finished with a rosette with a silver galloon, corresponding to the rank of Commander. It serves as an elegant miniature worn on occasions where the full decoration is not appropriate.
