Medal Atlantic Star 1939 - 1945

The ribbon bar of the Atlantic Star is the rectangular version of the distinctive ribbon of the original British campaign medal of the Second World War. The award was granted to personnel who served between 1939 and 1945 in the perilous waters of the Atlantic Ocean, especially members of the Royal Navy, the Merchant Navy and the Air Force who took part in the struggle against German U-boats and surface vessels.

The ribbon bar features the official blue, white and green moiré ribbon, symbolising respectively the sea, the waves and the sky. It is mounted on a metal holder (not included), secured to the uniform with pins and butterfly clasps.

Used as a practical substitute for the full-size medal during daily or operational service, this ribbon bar remains today an authentic piece of Allied military history and a highly valued collectible for WWII enthusiasts.
