Medal 1939 - 1945 Star

The ribbon bar of the 1939–1945 Star is the rectangular version of the ribbon of the original campaign medal, symbolising general participation in the global war effort from 1939 to 1945.

It features the official moiré ribbon of dark blue, red and light blue, with the colours representing respectively the Royal Navy, the Army and the Royal Air Force. The ribbon is mounted on a metal holder (not included), secured to the uniform with pins and butterfly clasps.

The ribbon bar served as a practical substitute for the full-size medal during daily or operational wear. Today, it is regarded as an authentic symbol of wartime service in WWII and a sought-after collector’s piece for enthusiasts of British awards.
