Medal 1939 - 1945 Star

The Ribbon of the 1939–1945 Star offers a discreet way of representing this British Second World War campaign award. The 1939–1945 Star was instituted for members of the British and Commonwealth armed forces who completed the required period of operational service on land, at sea or in the air.

The ribbon is made from the distinctive dark blue, red and light blue moiré ribbon associated with the award. These three colours represent the Royal Navy, the British Army and the Royal Air Force respectively, symbolising the combined contribution of the different services during the 1939–1945 war.

This compact version allows the decoration to be represented discreetly and recognisably on civilian clothing when the full-size medal or miniature is not worn. It is suitable for ceremonial and commemorative occasions as well as for collectors of British military decorations.
