Commemorative Medal War 1940-1945

The miniature of the Commemorative Medal of the War 1940–1945 is the reduced-size version of this Belgian award, instituted to honour those who contributed to liberation and resistance during the Second World War.

The small round medal in bronze-coloured metal depicts the same design as the large model: a roaring lion’s head above the letter V, flanked by the years 1940 and 1945.

The miniature of the Commemorative Medal of the War 1940–1945 is worn from a narrow yellow ribbon bordered on each side with a broad black stripe and a thin white stripe, echoing the symbolism of national recognition.
