Grand Cross Order of Leopold II

The breast star of the Grand Cross in the Order of Leopold II is a decoration made exclusively of solid fine silver (.999). It forms an essential part of the highest grade within this Belgian order of knighthood and is worn on the left breast, together with the broad shoulder sash to which the commander’s insignia is attached.

The star features a richly detailed, eight-pointed radiating pattern in silver with a gilt ray cross. At its centre is a black enamelled medallion with the gilded Belgian lion in relief. This is surrounded by a dark blue enamelled ring bearing the national motto “L’UNION FAIT LA FORCE – EENDRACHT MAAKT MACHT” in both national languages, framed by profiled gilt borders.

The complete set includes:

The reverse of the star is fitted with a sturdy fastening pin and clasp, ensuring secure and stable wear on uniform or ceremonial dress.
