Military Medal 2nd class

The Military Medal Second Class is an official Belgian decoration awarded in recognition of long and faithful service or particular merit within the army. The large metal model is crafted with care and precision, strictly following the official specifications.

The obverse of the medal shows the Belgian lion in the centre, surrounded by the bilingual motto “L’UNION FAIT LA FORCE – EENDRACHT MAAKT MACHT.” The reverse bears the inscription “ARMÉE · MÉRITE · ANCIENNETÉ,” emphasising the meaning of the award as a tribute to merit and seniority. The medal is surmounted by a royal crown connected to the ribbon with a suspension ring.

The Second Class is worn on a moiré ribbon in the national colours of Belgium: red, yellow, and black. Unlike the First Class, this ribbon is not fitted with a metallic chevron, which makes the grade clearly recognisable by its simplicity.
