Military Cross 2nd class

The Military Cross Second Class is an official Belgian military decoration, established on 11 February 1885 by King Leopold II. It is awarded to officers after twenty-five years of loyal and uninterrupted service. This large metal model is distinguished by its precise and high-quality finish, making it both a worthy tribute and a representative collector’s piece.

The decoration consists of a four-armed black-enamelled cross with crossed swords between the arms, emphasising its military nature. The central medallion bears the Belgian lion as a symbol of strength and courage, while the reverse shows the monogram of King Leopold II, later often replaced by another depiction of the lion. The medal is worn on a green moiré ribbon with two red stripes along the edges. The Second Class is distinguished by the absence of a rosette.
