Military Cross 1st class

The Military Cross First Class is an official Belgian military decoration, established on 11 February 1885 and awarded to officers who have completed twenty-five years of loyal and uninterrupted service. This large model in metal is distinguished by its detailed and high-quality finish, making it not only a tribute to military dedication but also a representative collector’s piece.

The decoration consists of a four-armed cross, enamelled in black and adorned with crossed swords that emphasise its military character. In the central medallion appears the Belgian lion, symbolising strength and courage, while the reverse bears the monogram of King Leopold II, who instituted the award. It is worn on a moiré ribbon of green with two red stripes along the edges, with the First Class further identified by a rosette on the ribbon.
