Medal UN Yugoslavia - Slovenia - Croatia UNTAEAS

The miniature of the UN Medal “Yugoslavia – UNPROFOR” is the reduced-size version of this international United Nations (UN) decoration. It was awarded to military personnel and certain civilians who served with the United Nations Protection Force (UNPROFOR) in the former Yugoslavia from 1992 to 1995.

The miniature retains the characteristic design of the full-size medal. The round bronze-coloured medal bears the emblem of the United Nations: a world map in azimuthal projection surrounded by two olive branches symbolising peace, with the abbreviation “UN” above.

The miniature medal is suspended from a narrow moiré ribbon featuring vertical bands of blue, green, red, brown and blue, separated by fine white stripes. Blue represents the United Nations, while the other colours are associated with the peacekeeping mission in the former Yugoslavia.

The miniature is traditionally worn with evening dress, mess dress or on formal occasions when the full-size medal is not appropriate. It is also a distinctive collectible for enthusiasts of international and military decorations.
