Medal UN Yugoslavia - Slovenia - Croatia UNTAEAS

The UN Medal “Yugoslavia – Slovenia – Croatia – UNTEAS” (large model) is an international decoration established by the United Nations (UN). It was awarded to military personnel and certain civilians who took part in the United Nations Transitional Authority in Eastern Slavonia (UNTEAS), active in the 1990s during the post-war transitional period in parts of the former Yugoslavia, particularly Slovenia and Croatia. The mission’s objectives included maintaining peace and security, protecting refugees, and supporting reconstruction.

The medal is a round bronze decoration. On the obverse is the UN emblem: a world map in azimuthal projection, surrounded by two olive branches symbolising peace. The inscription “UN” appears in relief above.

The medal is suspended from a multicolour moiré ribbon, consisting of vertical stripes in dark green, blue, red, blue, and yellow. The colours symbolise respectively nature and hope (green), the UN (blue), sacrifice and peace (red), again the UN role (blue), and reconstruction and the future (yellow).

The large model is worn on the uniform during official ceremonies, UN commemorations and military events.
