Civic Cross 1st class

The ribbon of the Civic Cross, First Class is a discreet way of wearing the decoration, intended for daily or informal use. It is worn on the collar or lapel of a jacket and serves as a recognizable mark of honour, without the need to wear the full medal.

The ribbon consists of a horizontal rectangular piece of moiré in red with black stripes, the traditional colours of the Belgian Civic Decorations. Attached to the ribbon is a gilded miniature of the medal, making the distinction both refined and immediately recognizable.

The ribbon is mounted on a metal base which slides through the lapel buttonhole. At the back, it is firmly and discreetly secured by folding a pliable part of the base around the fabric.

Although small in size, the ribbon with miniature of the Civic Cross, First Class retains the symbolism and visibility of the official decoration.
