Medal of the Red Cross of Belgium 2nd class

The Belgian Red Cross Decoration – Second Class (large model in metal) was instituted in recognition of services rendered to the Belgian Red Cross.

The decoration consists of a red enamelled cross surrounded by a silver-coloured laurel wreath. At the centre appears an oval shield bearing the Belgian lion in silver, which carries the Red Cross emblem on its chest. At the top is a silver-coloured royal crown, symbolising national recognition.

The insignia is suspended from a white moiré ribbon with two vertical red stripes. This version is the large model in metal, intended to be worn on the chest during official ceremonies.

Second Class is a grade within this decoration and was awarded for service and dedication to the Belgian Red Cross.
