Medal of the Red Cross of Belgium 1st class

The Belgian Red Cross Decoration – First Class (large model in metal) was instituted in recognition of distinguished services rendered to the Belgian Red Cross.

The decoration consists of a red enamelled cross surrounded by a golden laurel wreath. At the centre appears an oval shield bearing the Belgian lion in gold, which carries the Red Cross emblem on its chest. At the top is a royal crown, symbolising national recognition.

The insignia is suspended from a white moiré ribbon with a broad red central stripe. This version is the large model in metal, intended to be worn on the chest during official ceremonies.

First Class represents the highest grade of this decoration and was awarded for exceptional commitment to humanitarian service and dedication to the mission of the Belgian Red Cross.
