Medal France and Germany Star 1944 - 1945

The miniature of the France and Germany Star is the reduced-size version of the British campaign medal awarded to service personnel who took part between June 1944 and May 1945 in the liberation of France, Belgium, the Netherlands and Germany. This decoration was presented to members of the British Army, the Royal Navy and the Royal Air Force who were actively engaged in combat operations on the European mainland, from D-Day through to the German surrender.

The miniature of the France and Germany Star is struck in bronze-coloured metal in the traditional six-pointed star shape and bears the cypher of King George VI. It is worn from a narrow ribbon of red, white and blue, the colours of the British flag, symbolising Allied cooperation.
