Medal Burma Star 1941 - 1945

The Burma Star 1941–1945 is an original British campaign medal awarded to military personnel who took part in combat operations between 11 December 1941 and 2 September 1945 in Burma, Ceylon, Malaya, Sumatra, and adjacent areas. The decoration was granted to members of the British Army, the Royal Navy, and the Royal Air Force who were involved in the intense fighting against Japanese forces in the jungle and at sea.

The medal is made of bronze-coloured metal in the classic six-pointed star shape. At its centre appears the monogram “GRI VI” of King George VI, surmounted by the Royal Crown, with the inscription “THE BURMA STAR” below.

The full-size medal of the Burma Star 1941–1945 is worn on a moiré ribbon in red, dark blue, and orange-yellow, the colours symbolising the Army, the Navy, and the Air Force respectively.
