Grand Cordon Order of Leopold Military

The metal reduction of the Grand Cordon in the Order of Leopold, military division, is a miniature version of the grand cordon insignia. This model features the French-language version of the motto “L’UNION FAIT LA FORCE” and retains all the characteristic details of the original.

The decoration consists of a white-enamelled cross adorned with green-enamelled laurel wreaths, with a central black enamelled medallion bearing the gilded Belgian lion in relief. Around it runs the national motto in French, inscribed in gilded letters. Above the cross sits the gilded royal crown, together with the crossed swords marking the military division.

The reduction is suspended from the traditional purple ribbon, finished with a rosette and gilt galloons, as customary for the rank of Grand Cordon. This miniature is worn on occasions where the full insignia are not appropriate, serving as an elegant and representative alternative.
