Grand Officer Order of Leopold Maritime

The breast star of the Grand Officer in the Order of Leopold, maritime division, is crafted exclusively from solid fine silver (.999) and belongs to the second-highest grade within this Belgian order of chivalry. This insignia is worn on the left chest.

The eight-pointed star, executed in silver, features a richly detailed central field with a faceted finish and elongated rays, each tipped with small spherical points. At its center lies a black enamel medallion bearing the gilded Belgian lion in relief. It is encircled by a dark red enamel ring inscribed with the national motto “L’UNION FAIT LA FORCE – EENDRACHT MAAKT MACHT,” framed by profiled gilded edges and a delicate pearl border.

What sets the maritime division apart are the crossed gilded anchors behind the central medallion, emphasizing the maritime character of the distinction.

The reverse is fitted with a strong fastening pin and clasp, ensuring the star can be worn securely and stably on uniform or ceremonial attire.

The uniform slides and rosettes of the Grand Officer in the maritime division are identical to those of the civil Grand Officer and can be ordered there as well.
