Commander Order of Leopold Maritime

The commander’s badge in metal of the Order of Leopold, maritime division, belongs to the higher grades of Belgium’s oldest and most prestigious order of chivalry. This insignia is worn from a purple moiré silk neck ribbon and is carefully crafted in metal with an enameled finish.

The badge consists of a white enameled cross with gilded borders and green laurel wreaths between the arms. At its center lies a black enameled medallion featuring the gilded Belgian lion in relief, surrounded by a dark red enameled ring inscribed with the national motto “L’UNION FAIT LA FORCE – EENDRACHT MAAKT MACHT.”

Above the cross rises the gilded royal crown, flanked by crossed anchors that emphasize the maritime character of this division.

The commander’s badge is worn from a 50 mm wide neck ribbon.

The uniform slides and rosettes of the Commander in the maritime division are identical to those of the civil Commander and can be ordered there as well.
