Meritorious Service Medal

The Meritorious Service Medal (large model) is a Belgian military decoration, instituted to reward meritorious service, particular commitment and a strong sense of duty within the armed forces.

The insignia consists of a round bronze medal, whose obverse shows a shield bearing the Belgian lion in relief. This simple yet powerful design symbolises strength, courage and loyalty to the Belgian state.

The medal is suspended from a sky-blue moiré ribbon, featuring several vertical white stripes. The large model is worn on the uniform during official ceremonies, military parades and commemorative events.
