Cross of Honour Military Service Abroad 3rd class

The Cross of Honour for Military Service Abroad 3rd Class (large model) represents the entry grade of this Belgian decoration.

The insignia consists of a gilt five-pointed star, with red enamelled spheres at each tip. At the centre is a blue enamelled medallion with the motto “Pro Patria” and a gilt Belgian lion.

The star is surmounted by a gilt royal crown and suspended from a wide moiré ribbon: sky blue with purple edges. The 3rd Class is characterised by the central vertical red stripe on the ribbon, which immediately distinguishes it from the higher grades.

This is the large model, typically worn on uniform or preserved in collections.
