War Cross 1940-1945 - Luxemburg

This Luxembourg War Cross 1940–1945 is a military decoration of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg, instituted during the Second World War. The decoration was awarded to military personnel and civilians who distinguished themselves through acts of courage, service, or merit related to wartime operations and the liberation of Luxembourg.

The insignia takes the form of a cross with crossed swords between the arms, surmounted by the Grand Ducal crown. The central medallion bears the letter “C” topped with a crown, referring to Grand Duchess Charlotte of Luxembourg, under whose reign the decoration was established.

The decoration is suspended from a moiré ribbon in blue with yellow stripes, the official ribbon colours of the Luxembourg War Cross 1940–1945. The insignia is worn on the chest during military ceremonies and official occasions.
