War Cross after 1952

The large model of the War Cross after 1952 is an official Belgian military decoration, awarded to honour soldiers and resistance fighters who distinguished themselves by bravery, service or particular merit after the Second World War. It continues the tradition of the War Cross of 1914–1918 and 1940–1945.

The medal consists of a bronze cross pattée with crossed swords between the arms. At its centre is a medallion featuring the Belgian lion in relief, symbol of national strength and honour. The cross is surmounted by a royal crown connecting it to the ribbon.

The large model of the War Cross after 1952 is worn on a green moiré ribbon with five narrow red vertical stripes, representing bravery and military fidelity.
