Volunteer of War 1940-1945

The War Volunteer 1940-1945 Medal – large model is an official Belgian award granted to men and women who volunteered for military service during the Second World War. The bronze medal depicts a soldier holding a lance, standing in front of a large “V” representing “Volunteer” and “Victory”. Sunrays in the background symbolise regained freedom. The ribbon features alternating vertical red and dark blue stripes. The large model is worn on uniform or ceremonial dress, as a visible tribute to the service of war volunteers.
